Guest of the Language Centre, Prof. Andrew Quinn

On 4 and 5 June 2025, Prof. Andrew Quinn, Vice-Dean for International Affairs at Glasgow Caledonian University, visited the Language Centre. During the meeting entitled Redesign your teaching practice, he shared his experiences in the field of PBL (Problem-Based Learning) in foreign language teaching with our staff. The discussion was concluded with a question-and-answer session.

The professor was also a guest at the Wednesday Mobility Picnic, organised by the TUL International Cooperation Centre. It was attended by first-year BAIŚ students who, as part of their English classes taught by Ms Grażyna Budzińska, MA, met with students from Pagora University, studying paper technology at TUL as part of an inter-university exchange programme.

BAIŚ students improved their language skills through active participation: they tested their English conversation skills during a walk with French students and an interview with Prof. Quinn; they also collected material to write a report on the event they participated in.

An additional advantage was the opportunity to experience cultural differences through contact with a teacher from Scotland and students from European and non-European countries participating in the picnic.
